Replacing stock handlebars
« on: May 10, 2012, 06:09:23 AM »
hi
I am a newbie to the site, but not to Victory bikes (this is my second one - currently a new Kingpin)

I have just purchased the Ness Fly Bars, which look great.  I have not changed bars over before, so are there any "how to" instructions on the site.

any help would be much appreciated

The first thing is to remove the gas tank  or cover it with something (blanket), the rest is go slow and think about what you're doing.
When I do any mechanical work that I've never done before I take pictures of every part before I remove it, then if there is any question about how it goes back together I just look at the pictures.....it's simple.

Hi

thanks for the advise - I will photgraph before I start the work.  What I am really looking for is some guidance regarding which bolts / screws to undo and in what order.  If anybody can help that would be great

i've switched my bars out twice...both times, i simply unhooked all the control levers, grips, master/brake cylinders, and tied them up to hang from overhead (garage beam) with some bungee cords, instead of letting them droop.  then, undo the risers from underneath the top triple tree...large nuts. the fly bars have built in risers.  save the bushings/spacers, because most likely they'll be needed on the fly bars.
