Topic: Engine oil smells like gas (Read 3173 times)

I have a question,
I own a Victory Hammer 06'. I recently checked the oil level and oil smells like gas and looks too thin. The bike works fine in low and high speeds. What should I do? Is it normal on a victory engine? Can anyone help on this?

Change the oil and see if it happens again. If there is gas in the oil I would not run the motor, there would be a lack of lubrication.

Definitely change that oil. As for where that gas might have come from in the first place...

I'm not sure whether this applies to a Victory or not, but in the old days [no electric fuel pump & gravity fed carb] if someone flipped the throttle a lot when the bike wasn't running gas would wash down into the cylinder, past the rings & into the lower end of the motor. Jut a thought, but I might be dead wrong about this happening on the Vic with it's electric pump & injection.

I just did oil and sparkplugs change and took the bike on a ride for about 400 miles. The oil smells very little like gas, but I believe its my imagination, because a friend of mine has a harley and the oil smells like it. As a fact, the bike runs great! I pull the gas up to 120 miles and it had power for more than that.
